About Me
Random frames in a Random Universe.
Nik Nak has been shooting film for about 20 years starting with a random purchase at a fleamarket in London 2003. It was a jammed Pentax KX 35mm film camera that was being sold for about 20 UK pounds. After the camera was unjammed by using a paper clip, it became fully operational and has been my main camera for 20 years now. Working as an advertising copywriter for 7 years gave me the opportunity to implement concepts without planning ahead but just pointing the camera at the right direction at the right moment.
Shooting various types of film and cameras over the years, I came to realise that film is the medium, camera is just a toy.

“I’m working in a form of cinema that can be described, and has been described, as a diaristic form of cinema. In other words, with material from my own life. I walk through life with my camera, and occasionally I film. I never think about scripts, never think about films, making films.”
